Key research conclusions:

● Bees can be honeybees or stingless bees, both producing honey rich in nutrients.
● No study has been done on how packaging materials affect the quality of stingless bee honey during storage.
● This study evaluated the physicochemical properties of stingless bee honey stored in different packaging materials at room temperature for three months.
● The packaging materials tested were clear and amber glass bottles, and clear and amber plastic bottles.
● None of the storage materials showed a significant difference in quality parameters over three months of storage.

● However, if storage is extended, stingless bee honey stored in amber glass will give better quality at the end of the storage period due to consistent parameters such as antioxidant activity.
● All quality parameters tested on stingless bee honey showed no significant difference during three months of storage, indicating that nutrients content, mainly antioxidants and total ash, are stable and still beneficial for human consumption.
● The results of this study can guide manufacturers in determining the packaging material for storing stingless bee honey at room temperature for longer storage time.
● The study suggests that storing stingless bee honey in amber glass packaging can retain the maximum beneficial properties during long storage.
● High moisture content in stingless bee honey can result in fermentation and deterioration, which is a challenge for conservation in worldwide and domestic meliponiculture.
