The role of honey bees in the bioeconomy and sustainability is multifaceted and contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Here is a specification of the contributions of tropical honey bees to specific SDG targets:
1. SDG #2: Zero Hunger
● Bees help pollinate flowers and improve seed, vegetable, and fruit production, increasing the availability of food from forests and critical crops.
2. SDG #3: Good Health and Well Being
● A variety of honey varieties made from various nectar sources have medicinal value.
● Forest bee products, such as honey, are a source of both conventional and alternative medications used to treat a variety of illnesses and strengthen human immunity.
● Bees’ involvement to pollination aids in the development of strong forests and enhances air quality.
3. SDG #6: Clean Water and Sanitation
●Successful reforestation and good bee pollination processes are crucial for sustainable production of clean drinking water and meeting daily life necessities.
● Bees contribute to the pollination of tropical forests, which boosts the population of fruit-bearing tree species and ensures that nearby communities have access to clean water and sanitary facilities.
4. SDG #9: Industry Innovation and Infrastructure
● Human ingenuity is stimulated by the management, cooperative behaviour, and traits of bees, as well as by the design of their colonies.
● In order to create knowledge-based infrastructure, such as building design, aircraft design, and computer systems, humans replicate bee traits and cooperative strategies.
5. SDG #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
● The sustainability of flowers in gardens and urban woodlands is aided by bee pollination, a sign of better air quality in cities.
● Urban ecosystem services are provided by the pollination of Tilia tree species (Malvaceae) in urban forests.
6. SDG #12: Responsible Consumption and Production
● To support regional development, local honey production through beekeeping can be marketed as a business, including through tourism initiatives.
● Pollination-based natural products and honey bee products enhance food quality and lengthen the shelf life of perishable foods, promoting responsible production and consumption.
7. SDG #13: Climate Action
● Because of their behaviour, physiology, distribution, and connections with illnesses, bees are crucial climate change indicators.
●Researching the evolution of honeybees and their behaviour can be used to evaluate the effects of climate change.
8. SDG #14: Life below Water
● Bees serve as an alternative source of nutrition by enhancing the nutritional content of the plants they eat.
● Bee brood is a nutrient-dense diet that has high levels of protein, fat, and carbs as well as minerals like phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, copper, and selenium.
9. SDG #15: Life on Land
●By pollinating various types of forest plants, shrubs, and grasses, bees play a crucial part in the preservation of tropical forest lands.
● Bee-supported sustainable forestry and conservation initiatives improve people’s livelihoods and lower poverty.
10. SDG #17: Partnership for the Goals
● Forest communities cooperate, coexist, and share trees to gather forest bees, fostering the welfare and health of everyone.
●Through employment and revenue, tropical forest communities are able to cooperate and buy food to ensure year-round health.

Perkembangan Terkini Sistem Pengesanan & Pengiraan Kelulut

Masing-masing masih menongkat mata, namun perasaan teruja jelas terasa.…
